THE INVASION OF THE TEENAGERS
Here are the kids arriving at the airport:
I couldn't get a better picture as they burst through the doors for hugs :0) Connor is waving, then comes Lexie and Peyton. I found out the day before I picked them up that Peyton was bringing a friend with her.....the more the merrier!! My tiny house is overflowing!! We won't even talk about the mountain of dishes each day (I don't have a dish washer), wet towels, ruined cutting mat, broken dishes, the constant running washer & dryer and a grocery bill that must be putting a dent in the national debt.....it's so much fun having them here....really LOL. I'll post other pictures later.
A FINISH
I finally get to cross something off my Goals list. I finished the Wonky House quilt:
Here are the last 3 blocks, I hope you can see them, it shows better in person:
This one has a Gnome and a Flamingo...had to have one with lawn art:
This one has laundry on the line....the idea came to me when the girls were hanging up their bathing suits and towels on the line after being at the community pool :0)
The last block I knew I wanted a big tree with a swing. I was having a hard time coming up with something to put on the left and didn't know who I wanted on the swing. I drug out a bunch of books that are not quilting related but had lots of great "country" type paintings for inspiration. I settled on an abandoned wheel barrow full of carrots and a bunny taking a break on the swing. The trees are just branches with puffs of leaves....I wish I had saved the drawing so you could see it better. Anyway, here's the block:
I had also drug out some coloring books that I bought for applique and the girls decided that they needed to do some coloring. They may be almost 14 but there are still little girls in there, Peyton(L) Lexie(R):
Well I hear the hoard stirring. Time to go make breakfast...gotta have a nice Sunday breakfast....usually they are on their own for breakfast and lunch.
You all have a lovely day and I'll try to post again soon :0)

I love all the clever quilting on the house quilt.
What fun to have the kids there - I remember the fun days of bathing suits and so much food and dishes to the sky - and loved all of them.
One day it will be that cute Miss Saige coming to stay for a visit. Her new picture is adorable - as always.
Oh Crispy, I love having a house full of young people. We had 6 girls stay with us one time (in addition to my own children). They were sleeping everywhere. But what fun!! I sure miss those days. Enjoy them while they are there. The messes will be gone before you know it, and it will all be a happy memory.
I adore how your Wonky Houses turned out, you did a fantastic job.
Have fun with the kids!!

Lovely post! So happy for you that they Want to come and visit! It's hectic, but what memories you are making, as well as finishing a quilt...and your idea of having them be on their own for breakfast and lunch! Great!
Have fun with all the young uns'. They will keep you hoppin' for sure.
Who doesn't love to color? I still do.
Congrats on your finish! I love the wheel barrel.
I could hear the happiness in your blog...OMG...those were the days for me...enjoy it all, tomorrow they will be off to college.
Having had a foot fetish lately, I could not help noticing the very healthy foot!
Oh and the quilt is so very cute too!
A wonderful finish and enjoy the teenagers!! ;)
Crispy, I could just feel the excitement in your post. Young people bring a lot of life and energy to a household, don't they? They wear you out, though, too :)
Love your new picture of Saige! She's getting so big.
The quilting on your wonky houses quilt is gorgeous. Great job, as always :)
LOL Boy can I relate to groceries and the national debt. When all of the kids come home from joplin I have at least 10 extra bodies to feed. One large trip to the store and I close my eyes and pay the girl!. haha
I love your houses.
I love the garden gnome! The quilt looks very nice, I'm glad you didn't take out the swirls ;-)
Your wonky house quilt is absolutely darling. Your quilting is exquisite as usual.
What fun having the teens there. You will probably need a vacation to rest after they leave, but what a great time will be had by all. Enjoy!
Your wonky house quilt turned out so cute, how fun it is to see all the little house background details. I like Saige's new picture in your blog header. Have fun with the kids!

Darling houses; so cute!
Enjoy your girls. They grown up too quickly!
The quilt came out GREAT!! It looks like you will be one busy gal until the hoards go home! Enjoy your time with them!!
enjoy the laughter and the noise!
sounds like fun
Sorry, just catching up on my blogging pals now. You HAVE been busy and sounds like you will be for a while. I think you are so creative to come up with all those design ideas for your quilting. Amazing. They all have such whimsy. Good luck with feeding your horde. Mine seem to delight in midnight snacks. Leftovers never last till the next meal. Shopping, cooking, cleaning, no time for anything fun. Just opportunity to dream.
The quilting on your Wonky House quilt is beautiful!!!
Have fun with the children.
Wow...bless you for entertaining teenagers!! When my daughter's friends are here, I can relate about the dishes, mess and noise. But it's all good...
I love your wonky house finish! All your hand quilting details are so cool...you are a woman after my own heart! It is so fun to study and discover all the fun little details!
In stitches,
Teresa :o)

Hey, great job on finishing the wonky house project. LOVE it, and the quilting too! Is the jacobean background in the picture of Lexie and Peyton one of your creations? I'm guessing probably... :)
I can't believe how much Saige has grown and changed. What an adorable picture of her!!!!!
Know what you mean about the ring pincushion. I got one in Paducah last winter, and I would be lost without it now, when doing hand-piecing/applique. Joan's are especially attractive though!
I'm just loving this little quilt. Your were a genius at quilting it!! Pure eye candy. ~karen
